For years my reading life revolved almost entirely around young adult fiction. I loved discovering new coming-of-age stories, recommending hidden gems and celebrating authors who perfectly captured the ups and downs of growing up.
But somewhere along the way, my reading habits changed.
Reading Without Rules
These days my bookshelf is a wonderfully chaotic mix of novels, biographies, science books, beauty guides, psychology titles and the occasional coffee-table book that I simply couldn’t resist.
I’ve stopped worrying about whether a book fits neatly into a particular genre or audience. If it sounds interesting, I’ll give it a go.
Ironically, reading more widely has actually made me appreciate fiction even more. Exploring different subjects keeps my curiosity alive and makes returning to novels feel fresh every time.
Every Book Teaches You Something
Not every book changes your life, and not every bestseller deserves the hype. But even books I don’t particularly enjoy usually leave me with something—whether it’s a new perspective, an interesting fact or simply a reminder of what doesn’t work for me as a reader.
That’s one of the reasons this blog has evolved.
It started as a place to celebrate teen fiction, but it’s become somewhere I can share every fascinating book I discover, regardless of genre. After all, good books don’t come with age limits—and neither should our reading habits.
